Comprised of scholars at all stages of their academic careers, the New Directions in Noh Theatre Studies Working Group meets in person annually for a 3-5 day workshop retreat, during which pre-circulated works-in-progress are discussed at length in formal work sessions that spread over into shared meals, walks, and informal conversations. Formally named “New Directions in Noh Theatre Studies Working Group” in 2025, the workshops create networks that turn into conference panels, allowed members the time and space to focus on revising works for publication, and provided both scholarly and professional mentoring for our members in the earlier stages of their academic careers.  During the academic year, the group maintains regular email communication, where members can seek advice, share information, and celebrate each other’s professional milestones.
